A. What kinds of information does RUINS OF CHAOS collect?
RUINS OF CHAOS may collect personally identifying information during initial game signup, player polls, and user surveys; this information is collected solely at the guest's discretion. In addition, we may also: collect the e-mail addresses of those who post messages to our bulletin board; aggregate information about which pages guests access; collect user-specific information about which pages players and guests visit along with the length of time spent in particular areas. Additionally, information volunteered by the player/guest such as survey information and/or information provided in site registration forms - like a player/guest's name, address, email address, and phone number - is also collected.
B. How does RUINS OF CHAOS use the information we collect?
RUINS OF CHAOS may use personally identifying information of its guests to award prizes; to track compliance with our Rules of Conduct and Anti-Spam policy; or for editorial purposes (to the extent that is explained when guests provide the information).
When you create a user profile or participate in interactive areas of RUINS OF CHAOS, including the message center, forum, and chat room, all information volunteered by you may be displayed or broadcast publicly to the RUINS OF CHAOS community and/or to the chat room that you are visiting. You should keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online - in a user profile or in chat areas, for example - that information can be collected and used by others who visit that area of our site. Please choose wisely.
C. What about the disclosure of your personal information by RUINS OF CHAOS?
RUINS OF CHAOS will take appropriate steps to protect the information you share with us. Whenever you provide sensitive personal information (home address, for instance), RUINS OF CHAOS will take commercially reasonable steps to make sure your information is secure. RUINS OF CHAOS operates secure data networks protected by industry standard firewall and password protection systems. Our security and privacy policies are also periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary and only authorized individuals have access to the information provided by our players and guests.
RUINS OF CHAOS will NOT divulge personal information except to comply with applicable law or valid legal process or to protect the personal safety of our users or the public. We will not share, trade, or sell our mailing or email list to any individual or organization, no matter how much they offer.
RUINS OF CHAOS & COPPA (The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998)
COPPA is a law that RUINS OF CHAOS is committed to supporting and enforcing. RUINS OF CHAOS encourages parents and guardians to spend time online with their children (persons under the age of 13 years old) and to participate in the interactive activities offered to our online community. No information should be submitted to or posted at RUINS OF CHAOS by guests under 13 years of age. Period.
In fact, in order to play Ruins of Chaos, you must be at least 13 years of age. If we find out that you lied about your age and are not at least 13 when you sign up, we will immediately delete your account and tell your parents. Don't make us do that!
Cookies are files that a user's browser stores on their hard drive for the purposes of identification and persistence of user preferences for a particular website. Any cookies transmitted by or on behalf of RoC can only be used by you and RoC. Cookies cannot be used to collect or persist information that was not already available to RoC.
Like cookies, log files help us watch from behind the scenes. Log files list actions that have occurred on the website, like requests to the server. With analysis tools like these, we can get a better idea of where visitors are coming from, how often they return, and how they navigate through the site.
